Sewing and Tailoring
We started our first Sewing and Tailoring course in 2010, and have run courses in Mingalardon, Hlegu, Bago, Pyay and Pakhokku. These courses have introduced students to the whole process of tailoring, from selection of styles, making patterns, through to making high quality garments.
Where possible, we commission students who complete the course to make school uniforms–which S4SK then donates to orphanages and distributes to our NFE pupils.
For those who wish to set up as independent tailors, we offer a micro-loan to enable them to purchase a sewing machine.
The skills they learn will help them make or repair clothes for their families, find gainful employment in the garment industry, and for some, set up their own businesses.
S&T is taught regularly at our Learning Centre where both resident students and children from NFE classes have the opportunity to learn to tailor to a high standard from our teacher, Daw Xxx
